Home/Quarter days

QUARTER
DAYS.

Most jobs don’t need a whole day. Book the time the job actually needs, and I’ll quote for the job rather than the clock. What you get back depends on what you book, and that gets agreed before anybody turns up.

01 / KEEP IT FOCUSED

Quarter day

A quarter day on site, usually somewhere between one and three hours depending on the job. A product, a property, an interview, or a handful of clips for your channels.

  • Shaped around the job, not the clock
  • Cut to whatever length the story needs
  • Versions for wherever it’s going: web, socials, a screen in reception
  • A handful of revisions, agreed up front

03 / KEEP IT COMING

Retainer

A set number of days each month at a better rate, with priority in the diary. Built for businesses whose stock or story keeps changing.

  • A mix of quarter days and full days, whatever suits you
  • Priority booking
  • Rolling six-month term
  • Unused days roll over once

WHAT MOVES THE NUMBER

Roughly in the order it tends to matter.

01

How much editing.

Filming is the short part. A day on site can be two days in the edit, or half a day, depending on how many versions you want and how tidy the audio is.

02

How far away.

Travel, if there is any, goes on the quote. Near Wetherby or Boroughbridge? Say so, there’s a local discount.

03

How many people it needs.

Most jobs are one person. A multi-camera event or anything at scale might need a second pair of hands, and that goes on the quote openly rather than being smuggled in.

Everything here is a starting point, not a menu. Tell me the job and you get a number for the job.

THE AWKWARD QUESTIONS

ASKED,
ANSWERED.

Do you need paying up front?

Half on booking, half on delivery for anything over a day. Smaller jobs are invoiced on delivery, payable within 14 days.

How long until I get the film?

A quarter-day job is usually back within a week. A full day, around two. Long-form takes as long as it takes, and you get told the honest date rather than a hopeful one.

What if I hate it?

A handful of revisions are included, and we agree what the film is doing before anything is filmed. Most of the disasters in this industry come from nobody asking that question early enough.

Do I own the footage?

You get full commercial use of the finished films. Raw footage can be handed over too, on a drive, subject to the terms in your quote.

I may keep some of the general footage, like scenery, buildings and process shots, for my own projects. Never anything with your people’s faces or voices in it.

Can you use our own music?

If you hold the rights, yes. If it’s a chart track, no, not unless you fancy buying a sync licence. Everything I supply is properly licensed.

Is the free beer real?

Yes. One local can per booking, handed over in person, or a 0% if you’d rather. A can, not a keg.
